Birding in April

A few nice bird observations right around the Monte from the beginning of this month. Stonechats fly from one fence pole to another the whole day - and stand from time to time on our makelaar. Corn Buntings spend their time at the other corner around the mulberry trees.

A family of Black Shouldered Kites is feeding two large juveniles on a holm oak right in from of us. In the barn, on our right, two kestrels fly around their nest box. At the back, a pair of white storks is hatching, with probably a pair of barn owls doing the same right underneath in a nest box.

And during our trip to Olivenza and Caceres, plenty of Lesser Kestrels...
